The Moon We Carry
Flying High
Research focus: material behavior, cultural translation, material experimentation
The Moon We Carry is a textile kite inspired by Korean bojagi, traditional wrapping cloths that adapt to different forms. Through wind, movement, and material interaction, the work explores how soft structures continuously shift between containment and release, taking on new forms as they move through the air.
Developed through hands-on making and material experimentation, the project combines materials supplied by Maharam and Ladies & Gentlemen Studio with scrap materials from the artist's studio. The work embraces handmade construction, visible seams, and raw edges as part of its material language, exploring beauty in rawness, imperfection, and change.
Materials:
Hand-dyed silk supplied by Ladies & Gentlemen Studio, ripstop fabric provided by Maharam, scrap organza and cotton, bamboo dowels, thread, and kite line
